Music which is designed around the idea that an imperfect instrument can create a multitude of sonic layers which can fit together to elicit layers of emotions. Sound theory and a love of the Harmonic Minor scale and its tonal complexity when interchanged with Major modes (Phrygian being a favorite of mine.)
Oh yeah and just all out eyes closed, fingers on fire shredding! The right technique in the right context...
