I actually bought the music because I could not figure out what was happening in one part , then I watched the video. I was actually cheering when I heard his strings ring, because that must mean he is human. Then I realized how great his performance was WHILE playing this...and I was even more humbled.

Some performance notes:

The bridge is almost totally mine, I left in the pick taps and scrapes and some of his runs to pay homage, but there is no way possible, whether I played it note for note or not I would ever come even close to sounding like him. Joe has this vibe, this natural swing to his music that I do not know if anyone can or should duplicate.

I have not mixed this yet..I will by next weekend, please PLEASE offer incite into mixing (or performance) problems with it.

Verse 2 and last verse I put some harmonies in intentionally, because I wanted to feel what it felt like to play over Joe as he was playing...I like it.

Bridge: I changed the rhythm chords. I put in a "chaos" chord (quarter tone) in the middle of the progression. You probably wont be able to hear it, I can barely and I put it there. I did that because thats the kind of music I like to play and wanted to add my little touches to it.

The last few parts are still a little sloppy I got tired, but really wanted to finish it...

The ending is the live ending. They start on the G/F sharp instead of the E as they do in the CD version.

Theres more but my wife wants the comp
        <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher>
        <dc:rights></dc:rights>
        <dc:type>RiffCast</dc:type>

I suck at doing covers, and I fundamentally believe you should try to get the key points right and then use "creative license for the rest" - I like this excuse because I suck at covers :-)

This piece of crap needs a ton of work...please offer incite I CAN NOT get the drums for the hammer part right!!!

Im going to riffcast this if anyone wants to join up...let me know...
        <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher>
        <dc:rights></dc:rights>
        <dc:type>RiffCast</dc:type>

I had to play the solo before the bridge in some weird time signature and mode but it seems to move into it alright. Please keep in mind this is as progressive (though that is no excuse if it still sounds like crap) as it gets and I am really trying to elicit concepts of what my little ball incredible energy is like to live with. I may scrap the second verses solo and start again, the chromatic riff in the beginning does'nt seem to be doing it for me. It fits who Gio is but doesn't seem to fit musically. But I love the sweep tap and pulling the string over the edge of the fret board makes it sound like a weeping baby.

but I wont be able to post anything for a while so I wanted to get this up before the weekend. I know alot of you have enormous talent so please feel free to offer incite on this.

hopefully it makes you laugh:-) I know prog isnt everyones thing and its tedious to listen to at times, and honestly who wants to think when you go to kick back and relax and listen to some tunes..

but I just cant stop listening to and writing this crap!
        <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher>
        <dc:rights></dc:rights>
        <dc:type>RiffCast</dc:type>

The talk back between the guitars only comes to perfect harmony near the end. And then the melody turns to a series of chords.

The technical stuff Ill post in forum. Idea is playing with time signatures. Listen to the bridge and tell me what ya think. Also the ground work for the solo is laid out but it is way raw. I want to end it with harmonized triplets in a e Harmonic Minor run, just moving right up the scale...makes it climax to the chorus.
        <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher>
        <dc:rights></dc:rights>
        <dc:type>RiffCast</dc:type>
