It's a love song really, but about the 'green eyed' Monster and the destruction that it generally leaves after it's been around; love, longing, guilt, blame...you know that kind of thing. Obviously influenced by Beck's 'Cause we've Ended as Lovers'... I love the drums on this. The main ones are the Ocho, which I took down to 60bpm. </description> <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher> <dc:creator>cwight</dc:creator> <dc:rights></dc:rights> <dc:subject>rr13</dc:subject> <dc:date>2008-12-01T10:01:11Z</dc:date> <dc:type>RiffCast</dc:type> </item>

Beau didn't cast it so I've jacked it (too much good stuff on here to let it go to waste); hope he doesn't mind. I think it also features Amit on his first rifflink collab (the last spooky sounding solo), so I couldn't let that get lost either. There were some other people who played on it but who didn't move their riff up into the songline so I've not included them. The song tries to capture the feeling of being just on the edge of slipping over into heatwave madness in the city, but never quite gets there. It's a bit difficult doing a mix when you can't alter the drum levels. The guys are rocking on this. Slinger's track once again is awesome to play over. I mastered this in Audacity according to the advice given by gatorjj, although I adjusted everything down just a bit. There still seems a bit of clipping however, don't know why.</description> <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher> <dc:creator>cwight</dc:creator> <dc:rights></dc:rights> <dc:subject>rifflink:Members/GuitarSlinger/riffworkscollaboration.2008-04-29.2580169552</dc:subject> <dc:date>2008-11-17T15:53:00Z</dc:date> <dc:type>RiffCast</dc:type> </item>

I'll decided to keep this mix up, although it's a different one from my RR9 entry. Just for info. You can get gatorjj's advice in the RiffRumble forum listed as RR question originally posted by me. It's interesting comparing this mix to my RR9 version of this song and gatorjj's advice is spot on (well at least to my ears). This was mixed well out of the red in RW then the compression and limiting added via Audacity according to gatorjj's advice. I've tried mixing to riff in RW then adding compression to the mixed riff, but that doesn't seem to work as well. </description> <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher> <dc:creator>cwight</dc:creator> <dc:rights></dc:rights> <dc:date>2008-11-30T17:01:06Z</dc:date> <dc:type>RiffCast</dc:type> </item>

Thanks to everyone who left comments on the previous version. There have been a lot of TV programs on Iraq when I was writing the piece and the song is a reflection of that; hence the title. Rick (Yahsteck) began the rifflink in response to a thread in the forums. This collab is still open for anyone that wants to add to it. I should add that the ultimate credit goes to Riffer who started the thread and expressed what all of us feel at some point in time....the Mojo is MIA....
