RiffCasts

This is another fusion-type tune. I recorded this back in April. It’s a bit dense but hopefully you’ll hear something in it that you like. The title is a respelling of “bloviation,” which we’ve all heard plenty of lately. I changed it to “blow” to sort of reference what musicians do on a solo. So, it’s my way of bloviating, I guess. All tones were from the Amplitube bundled with RW. Thanks for listening and best of luck to all RR 13 contestants.

Here is an uptempo ''fusion'' instrumental, which is mostly rocked out but has a couple of jazzy elements to it. Lots of changes so please hang around for the whole 3:55 if you can! Thanks for listening! I used DrumCore for the drums and used Amit's IntelliRiffer to bring those files into the Riffs. Like most of you, I play by ear. However, I did a little research so I could sound intelligent if somebody asked about the solo towards the end. It's all over D using two chord scales, the first is just a regular D "blues" scale with a major 3rd and minor 7th. The second is best described as a mode: D Locrian. This mode has the same notes that are played in an Eb major scale only D is your starting pitch, you might say. So, I was playing the Locrian mode without knowing its name. OK, end of theory lesson. Why does this tune fade in? Because it's actually Part II of my RR8 entry, "This Riff Works." That's also why it starts with a bridge. Make sense? No, but it's music so it doesn't have to. Guit solo w/ attitude starts at about 1:30. Thanks for listening and best of luck to all entrants!
