My World of Rock
Musical Influences
My biggest direct influences be it style sound or motivation are:
Bleu
Mike Viola/Candy Butchers
The Nines
Bryan Adams
The Outfield
Jellyfish
Enuff 'Z Nuff
Zebra
Saigon Kick
Army of Anyone
and probl some big ones I'm forgetting!
INDIRECT INFLUENCES:
Brenden Benson
The Raconteurs
The Shazam
David Ryan Harris
Brand New Immortals
Big Wreck
Arc Angels
T-Ride
and of course a gob more that I love.I always hate
sections like this because so many people use it as
a way of somewhat comparing themselves to their "influences".
I always love reading where a dude might be influenced by:
etc... so I'm thinking
"man this guy probl rips!" but low and behold
he's putrid! That's why I like making the disclaimer
that although there are elements to my favorite
artists in my style I have always tried to sound
like myself. For better or worse. To some that may
sound like a cop out. Maybe it's a little of both?
I've never really sat down and learned any one player's
licks or style except maybe some Brian May & King's X licks.
My music is a hodge podge of everything. Lots of melody
and harmonies ala The Beatles & Queen. Dropped D riff
stuff ala King's X or cheesy hair metal ala
Extreme Winger Saigon Kick or melodic punky stuff
ala Cheap Trick. I can only WISH I were half as good as
any of those bands! But I really don't care either.
I just try to write what I like. Cuz at the
end of the day you only have yourself to please.
Favorite Songs
Oh man... this is fun. Pretty much any Queen record I can
listen to OVER AND OVER. Any Cheap Trick The Beatles or
King's X record. I'm an "album guy" I suppose.
But I guess some of my favorite songs are:
"The Millionaire Waltz" by Queen
"Lost In Germany" by King's X
"You Won't See Me" The Beatles
"Melanie" The Nines
"Truckstop Sweetheart" Mike Viola
"Freak Me Out" Bleu
"New Mistake" Jellyfish
"King For A Day" Brand New Immortals
"Last Goodbye" Jeff Buckley
"Blue River Liquor Shine" Max Webster
"Red Barchetta" Rush
"Baba O'Riley" The Who
"Whiskey In A Jar" Thin Lizzy
oh man... i gotta stop now and go listen to these!
