This Gem Won Both Contestants Choice & Popularity Categories!

Rick Andrews (yahsteck1) and his "collab-mates" (Star, Cara, ThrobbyRobby, and Wedgebill received the most votes from the RiffRumble X competitors and from the public for "Thank You Mommy". The prizes are flower delivery to any mom they would like and $20 each in RiffWorks logo items! Rick had this to say when Sonoma asked him about himself and his music:

How long have you been playing guitar?

"On and off for about 24 years"

Have you ever played on stage?

"Yea, a few times but the best was jumping off the bed acting like a total Head Banging Shred Spaz when I really couldn't play a lick in the early days...or was that just last week?"

What is the inspiration behind this song?

"The song started out before the contest was even heard of. The main melody in the beginning was a Steve Vai vibe I was feeling after I tuned to an odd tuning (CGCGBE , which BTW was slightly sharp too ... ask Wedgebill, ThrobbyRobby and mickeymix they'll tell ya,lol!) just screwing around. Then when the contest started , i decided that it had a Mothers Day vibe and besides Vai has "Sisters" so do I .. well you get the idea! Then one night the words just came to me that Cara could sing. That's when I started getting the ideas for the contrast and chaotic idea for the dialog between Star and Cara. It just fit and felt right and, like our household and many others, The Moms Rock when it comes to taking care of the kids! Thank you MOMs around the world for all you do!"

What gear did you use?

"Mexican Strat, GuitarPort, Zoom PS-02 for the vocals, and the best recording software in the world...RiffWorks...Yea Baby! I've been using RiffWorks since 2005...wish I had it before I spent $700 on EMagic Platinum about 2 years earlier!"

"Thanks to Star for being the Mom that she is and for her work on this tune and Cara for her great work - especially Cara's ideas and style. To ThrobyRobby for his quick and solid response to the very last minute invite that I gave him! Also thanks to Wedgebill for his cool idea. And thanks to mickeymix for his great gifts of the past! Also thanks to all who attempted to work on this but, due to last minute situations and tuning problems, they weren't able to collab!

I am truly shocked, yet honored, to be chosen in the Contestants Choice Category! The music that my peers have made in this contest are truly worthy of winning. I am blown away by all tje entries. This is the most honorable category. I am humbly grateful my friends!

I really don't think you all know how much of a blessing your words have been for this contest and over the years concerning the music I have done in the past. Your words and deeds have been greater than any contest prize!
