Like most of you, I play by ear. However, I did a little research so I could sound intelligent if somebody asked about the solo towards the end. It's all over D using two chord scales, the first is just a regular D "blues" scale with a major 3rd and minor 7th. The second is best described as a mode: D Locrian. This mode has the same notes that are played in an Eb major scale only D is your starting pitch, you might say. So, I was playing the Locrian mode without knowing its name. OK, end of theory lesson.
