Todd Rundgren's Choice Category Winner

Les won the grand prize for his song "Happy Helloween"! He wins a Schecter C-1 electric guitar upgraded with Seymour Duncan AHB-1 Blackouts humbuckers!

Thank you Sonoma Team for providing the space, software and support to be able to share my music with this terrific community. Also thank you to Seymour Duncan, Schecter Guitars and IK Multimedia.

Mr. Todd Rundgren, You Rock! Thank you for choosing my song as the winner of first prize.

It's a huge honor to win a RiffRumble because of all the talented musicians that are here. They could have won just as easily. So my my hat is off to all of you for all that you do.

The inspiration came from a movie called "Jeepers Creepers" (iTunes & Amazon). I created the intro in FL Studio icon Rewired to RiffWorks. I used two synths and samples from the web. I used Amits Intelliriffer and EZDrummer for percussion. All guitars and bass were Line 6 Gearbox and Pod XTL patches. Guitars used were PRS Custom 22, Gibson 335S for slide and a ESP B-255 bass. I also use a Variax 700 a lot. Midi controllers are a Korg pad KONTROL and E-MU X Board49.

Digger Stone wrote the lyrics and laid down the vocals in two takes. He is an amazing singer and guitar player to say the least.

I would like to add that RiffWorks really makes writing songs possible because it's so easy to use. It doesn't bog you down with technical issues and leaves you free to create and capture the magic when your jamming or just noodling around. It is ground zero for all my song creations.

From Southwest Florida I thank you for this awesome experience and look forward to future projects."

Popular Category Winner

danieldiez received the most votes from the public and wins RiffWorks InstantDrummer Sessions by Sonic Reality and Recording Magazines.

Hello friends. It is a pleasure to join this community - so great and so fascinating. I am proud to win popular choice for the first time! I'd like to congratulate all those who voted and those who have been supportive."

For recording I used Line 6 TonePort UX1, my guitar JD-L 80 BK and Shure SM58 microphone. Nothing too complicated.

When I compose I always believe in people. They are the ones who decide whether you like it or not. I tried to compose rock and roll more palatable here in Spain, The Music of America, Australia and other places I love! My influences are all foreign. I had never composed a song with vocals. I have always composed instrumental rock and I have not had much time to compose this song. For a first effort, I think has been very good.

Congratulations to the other winners in this and previous RiffRumbles. There have been many good songs. Un Saludo Amigos.

Contestants Choice Category Winner

yahsteck1 (aka Rick) won the grand prize for his song "Monsters, Goblins, Legions of Demons"! He wins an IK Multimedia Downloadable Prize Pack that includes AmpliTube® 2, T-RackS®, and Classik Studio Reverb

"I could have used a case of toilet paper when I found out that I won the Contestants Choice. I'm especially shocked at how well the song was recieved and all the congrats I got from winning. I thought I would do OK upon entering until I heard the other songs. Then I thought I'd better forget this one and try for 'rumble 14. There were some totally brilliant songs and ideas as well as musicianship, and as we have all seen it was a very close and tight contest! Not only has the support from you all in the votes and the Contestants Choice meant more to me than the winnings, but also knowing that the infamous Todd Rundgren has heard me! How often does that happen? To me these things are huge prizes in themselves!

Ya know , there were some very generous comments about my song and mix and tone. I think my mixes have been terible..lol. Guitar was done with a GuitarPort and my Mexican Strat. Keyboards with a USB Keytation 61 midi controller through a Roland XV-5050 Synth Moduel routed through GuitarPort. For bass I used a Yamaha. Now here is the funny thing and most people usually can't believe it... for vocals I used a Zoom PS-02 Palmtop Studio with a built in condenser mic about the size of a pea. This also was routed through GuitarPort!

It's funny the way this song came about. I wasn't going to enter due to time issues, but then I heard the classic "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter and thought OK, I want to do that vibe but make it my own. So I started with the keys. Then it was days later when I came up with the rhythm guitar stuff and reworked the keybord stuff. As I listened, I was like, what do I name this or what is this about, then words started coming and I was like...this is about when the Mesiah casted the demons out of that guy. At that point I got very excited like I used to when creating something new and fresh. I actually felt young and enthusiastic again..lol! Now that's how it should be! When it starts falling into place like Dominos then you know you have something and it drives you even more. Thanks Sonoma Wire Works for making it easy for that creative process to happen!

So thank you all so very much for the tremendous words and feedback as well as votes and prizes! It truly is an honor and blessing to not only work and 'rumble with you all but also to be in this most excellent community. Thanks to Todd Rundgren for agreeing to listen to us guys and judge us!

Huge congrats to Les Beasly for his win! I totally see why it was picked. It blew me away when I heard it even the second time around...LOL! Peace and blessings ya all!"
