More than 90 musicians fired up RiffWorks guitar recording software, including RiffWorks T4 (free), and recorded Monster-themed songs! They created songs on thier own and with friends worldwide using free online collaboration built into RiffWorks. Up to $5600 in prizes!

RiffRumble™ 13 is hosted by Sonoma Wire Works, developers of RiffWorks recording software and RiffWorld.com online collaboration and song posting community.

The celebrity guest judge is Todd Rundgren, who used RiffWorks to record his latest album, Arena!

Sponsors for this round are Schecter Guitars, Seymour Duncan, IK Multimedia, Sonic Reality, and RECORDING Magazine.

3 Categories to Win

First Prize (Todd Rundgren's Choice): First prize goes to the musician who creates Todd Rundgren's favorite song chosen from a list of the top 5 songs nominated by contestants. If the song is a collaboration, the winner will be the person who began the collaboration. Prizes include a Schecter C-1 electric guitar upgraded with a pair of Seymour Duncan AHB-1 Blackouts humbuckers.

  • Schecter C-1 Electric Guitar - Schecter has a reputation for incredible quality, innovative designs, aggressive tone & styling, and great value. The C1 is a perfect demonstration of everything that Schecter brings to the table. The C1 has a Mahogany body, a Maple/Rosewood neck, and the TONEPROS Bridge featuring a couple of nearly invisible setscrews that simply lock the bridge to the mounting posts. The idea is simple, but the benefits are exponential. Solidify your bridge in place like stone, and it will never fall off again! No more worrying about scratching the face of your guitar or readjusting the intonation and action after a simple cleaning or changing of strings. Your guitar will sustain and play in tune like never before. Because our bridges secure solidly in place, your intonation will be much more accurate, and stay that way! $649 MSRP

  • Seymour Duncan AHB-1 Blackouts humbuckers - The Schecter guitar will be upgraded with a pair of these 9-volt active humbuckers for aggressive playing styles. Recommended for old school metal, garage, punk, thrash, drop tunings, and other heavy rock styles. The "other" USA-made active humbuckers use unbalanced inputs in a differential preamp. An unbalanced differential preamp is not very effective at canceling hum. Seymour Duncan engineers figured out how to capture the tone that players want in an active design, but using balanced inputs. The result is 12dB to 14dB less noise, more lows, more highs, and more output. Simply put, Blackouts have more tone than other active pickups. $248 MSRP

Second Prize (Contestants' Choice): An IK Multimedia Downloadable Prize Pack. This includes AmpliTube® 2, T-RackS®, and Classik Studio Reverb Value $1200 per prize pack. • RiffWorks InstantDrummer Session Downloads by Sonic Reality - Dave Kerzner from Sonic Reality remarked, "Sonoma and Sonic Reality share a similar philosophy when it comes to music-making - getting the technical stuff out of the way in order to get to the creative part faster. RiffWorks is brilliant and we're thrilled to be able to offer our drums and grooves in this platform so that guitar players can jam with such a diverse range of sounds we've captured all over the world. It's a chance to open up a range of Sonic Reality samples to guitarists that may be new to what we do and that's exciting."
  • RECORDING Magazines - RECORDING is The Magazine For The Recording Musician. It offers readers a fascinating and useful blend of topical articles, how-to columns, tough yet balanced reviews, interviews with industry professionals, DIY guides, critiques of readers' recordings, and much more.
